Wisdom 14:31
Good News Translation
When unrighteous people commit sin, they will be hunted down, not by the power of whatever thing they swear by, but by the punishment that sinners deserve.

For it is not the power of the things by which people swear, but the just penalty for those who sin, that always pursues the transgression of the unrighteous.

Sinners don't receive help from the idols they worship, but the penalty for their sins follows them in hot pursuit.
