Sirach 33:20
Good News Translation
As long as you have breath in your body, don't let anyone lead your life for you.

New Revised Standard Version
To son or wife, to brother or friend, do not give power over yourself, as long as you live; and do not give your property to another, in case you change your mind and must ask for it.

Contemporary English Version
Never give anyone else power to make decisions for you-- not your husband or wife, and not your children, relatives, or friends. And don't give away property-- if you later want it returned, you will have to beg for it.

New American Bible
Let neither son nor wife, neither brother nor friend, have power over you as long as you live. / Do not give your wealth to another, lest you must plead for support yourself.

Douay-Rheims Bible
Give not to son or wife, brother or friend, power over thee while thou livest; and give not thy estate to another, lest thou repent, and thou entreat for the same.
