Sirach 28:10
Good News Translation
The more fuel, the hotter the fire. The more stubbornness, the hotter the argument. And the stronger or richer people are, the angrier they can afford to become.

New Revised Standard Version
In proportion to the fuel, so will the fire burn, and in proportion to the obstinacy, so will strife increase; in proportion to a person’s strength will be his anger, and in proportion to his wealth he will increase his wrath.

Contemporary English Version
Stubbornness heats up an argument, just as adding wood heats up a fire. If you are rich and powerful, you can afford to lose your temper.

New American Bible
The more the wood, the greater the fire, the more the cruelty, the fiercer the strife; The greater the strength, the sterner the anger, the greater the wealth, the greater the wrath.

Douay-Rheims Bible
Refrain from strife, and thou shalt diminish thy sins.
