Sirach 10:12
Good News Translation
Pride has its beginning when a person abandons the Lord, his maker.

The beginning of human pride is to forsake the Lord; the heart has withdrawn from its Maker.

We humans start to be arrogant when our hearts turn away from the Lord our Creator.
