Baruch 1:21
Good News Translation
We refused to obey the word of the Lord our God which he spoke to us through the prophets. Instead, we all did as we pleased and went on our own evil way. We turned to other gods and did things the Lord hates.

We did not listen to the voice of the Lord our God in all the words of the prophets whom he sent to us,

Even when the Lord's prophets came and told us how the Lord our God wanted us to live, we refused to listen.

And we have gone away every man after the inclinations of his own wicked heart, to serve strange gods, and to do evil in the sight of the Lord our God.
