2 Maccabees 6:6
Good News Translation
It was impossible to observe the Sabbath, to celebrate any of the traditional festivals, or even so much as to admit to being a Jew.

People could neither keep the sabbath, nor observe the festivals of their ancestors, nor so much as confess themselves to be Jews.
