2 Maccabees 6:29
Good News Translation
and the very people who had treated him kindly a few minutes before, now turned against him, because they thought he had spoken like a madman.

Those who a little before had acted toward him with goodwill now changed to ill will, because the words he had uttered were in their opinion sheer madness.

But the same men who had earlier been kind to him now sneered, because they thought he was talking nonsense.

Thus did this man die, leaving not only to young men, but also to the whole nation, the memory of his death, for an example of virtue and fortitude.
