2 Maccabees 3:19
Good News Translation
Women, wearing nothing but skirts of sackcloth, crowded the streets. Young girls whose parents had never allowed them to be seen in public ran to the gates or to the walls of the city, or just stared out of their windows.

New Revised Standard Version
Women, girded with sackcloth under their breasts, thronged the streets. Some of the young women who were kept indoors ran together to the gates, and some to the walls, while others peered out of the windows.

Contemporary English Version
Grown women put on sackcloth skirts. Young women who had never been allowed outdoors ran to the city gates or to the city wall, or just stared out of their windows.
