2 Maccabees 13:12
Good News Translation
For three days the people did nothing but lie face down on the ground, fasting and crying, begging the merciful Lord for his help. Then Judas spoke words of encouragement to the people, urging them to get ready for action.

New Revised Standard Version
When they had all joined in the same petition and had implored the merciful Lord with weeping and fasting and lying prostrate for three days without ceasing, Judas exhorted them and ordered them to stand ready.

Contemporary English Version
For three days, they lay face down on the ground, crying and refusing to eat, while begging the Lord to have pity and send help. After this, Judas encouraged everyone, then ordered his troops to prepare for battle.

So committing all to God, the Creator of the world, and having exhorted his people to fight manfully, and to stand up even to death for the laws, the temple, the city, their country, and citizens: he placed his army about Modin.
