2 Maccabees 12:42
Good News Translation
and they begged him that this sin might be completely blotted out. Then, Judas, that great man, urged the people to keep away from sin, because they had seen for themselves what had happened to those men who had sinned.

New Revised Standard Version
and they turned to supplication, praying that the sin that had been committed might be wholly blotted out. The noble Judas exhorted the people to keep themselves free from sin, for they had seen with their own eyes what had happened as the result of the sin of those who had fallen.

They also begged the Lord to forgive this terrible sin. Judas, that wonderful man, said, "You have seen for yourselves how God punished those who disobeyed him. So I warn you not to sin!"
