2 Maccabees 12:38
Good News Translation
After the battle Judas led his men to the town of Adullam. It was the day before the Sabbath, so they purified themselves according to Jewish custom and then observed the holy day.

New Revised Standard Version
Then Judas assembled his army and went to the city of Adullam. As the seventh day was coming on, they purified themselves according to the custom, and kept the sabbath there.

Contemporary English Version
Judas brought his troops together and led them to the town of Adullam. It was now the day before the Sabbath, so they went through the traditional ceremonies to prepare themselves for that holy day. Then they celebrated the Sabbath.
