2 Maccabees 12:16
Good News Translation
and because it was God's will, they captured the city. The Jews slaughtered so many people that a nearby lake, which was about a quarter of a mile wide, seemed to be overflowing with blood.

They took the town by the will of God, and slaughtered untold numbers, so that the adjoining lake, a quarter of a mile wide, appeared to be running over with blood.

because God wanted them to capture it. They killed countless enemies--so many that a nearby lake, which was 370 meters wide, seemed to be filled with blood.
