Good News Translation
he made rapid preparations to depart. He said to the young king, to his officers, and to his men, "We are growing weaker each day; we are short of provisions, and this place we are besieging is strong. Besides, there are pressing government affairs which need our attention.

So he quickly gave orders to withdraw, and said to the king, to the commanders of the forces, and to the troops, “Daily we grow weaker, our food supply is scant, the place against which we are fighting is strong, and the affairs of the kingdom press urgently on us.

Contemporary English Version
he said to the young Antiochus the Fifth and to the officers and the soldiers: You must leave Jerusalem at once! Things are getting worse every day. We're short of food, and the enemy fortress is powerful. Besides, we have other problems to solve.
