Good News Translation
Lysias placed the rest of the cavalry on the two flanks of the army where they could be protected by the infantry while harassing the enemy.

The rest of the cavalry were stationed on either side, on the two flanks of the army, to harass the enemy while being themselves protected by the phalanxes.

Antiochus placed the rest of his cavalry to the right and to the left of the army, because he wanted the cavalry troops to stay close to his army for protection and to attack the Jewish forces whenever they could.
