1 Maccabees 14:4
Good News Translation
The land of Judea was at peace as long as Simon lived. During his entire reign, he used his position of power and influence to do what was good for his people, and they were always pleased with him as their ruler.

New Revised Standard Version
The land had rest all the days of Simon. He sought the good of his nation; his rule was pleasing to them, as was the honor shown him, all his days.

The country was at peace while Simon ruled, because he worked for the good of the nation. Everyone was glad that he ruled, and they honored him for as long as he lived.
