Good News Translation
Those in the fort in Jerusalem were now prevented from leaving to buy or sell anything. They were suffering from severe hunger and many of them had died of starvation.

Those who were in the citadel at Jerusalem were prevented from going in and out to buy and sell in the country. So they were very hungry, and many of them perished from famine.

The enemy troops in the Jerusalem fortress still could not go into the country to buy food, and many of them starved to death.
