Isaiah 42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. "Former things," i.e. things formerly predicted. These predictions do not belong to the present prophet, but to others. The "new things" are the redemption of Israel from Babylon, and, through it, the revelation of the true God to all nations.
