Boehm
Boehm, Anthony Wilhelm, a German writer, was born in 1673; and died in 1722. Very little is known of him. He translated and published Arndt's True Christianity in 1712, in which volume was a translation of St. Bernard's "Jesu, Dulcis Memoria," which [33]J. C. Jacobi altered and published in his Psalmodia Germanica, 1732. Jacobi's version was in turn altered by others, and among these alterations the one found in [34]Madan's Psalms and Hymns, 1760, beginning, "Of Him who did salvation bring," has long been a favorite with American Methodists. If any hymn in our Hymnal has to be traced back through a long genealogy, this one surely has.
