The Birth of Jesus Announced
Interwoven Gospels

Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David; and the name of the virgin was Mary.

And the angel, coming in to her, said, "Hail, thou Highly favored one! The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women." But she was greatly troubled at the saying and was considering what manner of salutation this might be. And the angel said to her, "Fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favor with God. And behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb and shalt bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord shall give Him the throne of David His father, and He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of His kingdom there shall be no end."

Then said Mary to the angel, "How shall this be, since I know not a man?" And the angel answering said to her, "The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee; therefore also the Holy One begotten shall be called SON OF GOD. And behold, Elizabeth, thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who is called barren: for not one thing shall be impossible with God."

Then Mary said, "Behold the bondmaid of the Lord; may it be to me according to thy word." And the angel departed from her.
