Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection
Interwoven Gospels

Now they were in the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going on before them. And they were astonished, and those following Him were afraid. And He again took the twelve disciples apart and began to tell them the things that were about to happen to Him. And He said to them, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem: and all the things which have been written by the prophets shall be fulfilled in the Son of man. For He shall be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him up to the Gentiles. And they shall mock Him, and shall spit upon Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall treat Him shamefully, and crucify Him: and on the third day, He shall be raised up."

And they understood none of these things; and this saying was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.
